The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, has confirmed its participation in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, extending a significant hand of support to the Congress. This decision comes after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge extended an invitation to SP, which has been accepted by the party. Amethi and Rae Bareli have been strongholds of Congress. However, last time Rahul Gandhi had lost to Smriti Irani in Amethi. Sonia Gandhi had saved her seat from Rae Bareli.
Even without alliance with Congress, SP has been supporting it on both these seats. Akhilesh Yadav was invited by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to participate in the Nyaya Yatra. However, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had invited Akhilesh to attend the Congress meeting organized at National Inter College, Sayadaraja, Chandauli on 16 February itself. But it is being said that Akhilesh will join the Congress trip in Amethi or Rae Bareli. After entering UP from Chandauli, the journey will reach Sultanpur, Amethi and Rae Bareli via Varanasi, Jaunpur.
